Our Commitment: We are committed to transparency in how we manage and allocate the costs of our research and programs. This statement explains our indirect cost rate and how these funds support our mission.​

What Are Indirect Costs?

Indirect costs are essential organizational expenses that support all our programs but cannot be directly attributed to a single project or grant. These costs ensure we can effectively manage and deliver on our research commitments while maintaining the infrastructure needed for excellence.

Current Indirect Cost Rate: 10%

In compliance with 2 CFR § 200.414(f) and applied by DOE to for-profit recipients through 2 CFR § 910

What Do Indirect Costs Cover?

Rate Application Example

For a $100,000 research grant:

  • Direct Project Costs: $100,000 (salaries, supplies, travel, etc.)

  • Indirect Costs: $10,000 (organizational support)

  • Total Project Value: $110,000

Cost Accounting Standards

Our indirect cost rate is calculated in compliance with:

  • Federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200)

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

  • Cost Accounting Standards applicable to non-profit organizations

🔍 Transparency & Accountability

Our indirect cost rate is reviewed annually and formally renegotiated every three years with our federal cognizant agency. All calculations are based on audited financial statements and are subject to federal oversight to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
